Halitube launches AAA podcast to celebrate Asian Nova Scotians

Halifax, June 21, 2022 - Halitube, the community organization and Youtube channel representing the young Asian Community, is pleased to announce that it has launched a new video podcast to help connect new Canadians to their new home in Nova Scotia.

The podcast, entitled Atlantic Asian Adventure or AAA, aired its first episode, featuring promoters of the Philippine Fiesta in Halifax.

“Immigrant communities are doing so much in Nova Scotia right now,” said Will Yang, CEO of Halitube and founder of the AAA podcast.

“They are coming to Nova Scotian and they want to stay. We wanted to show Nova Scotians and all of its communities everything happening here. There are festivals, parades and events all summer long. We are going to use this podcast as a platform.”

Yang, who came to Nova Scotia from China in 2017 to study in the Screen Arts Program at NSCC, has been involved in events celebrating Lunar New Year in February and the Asian Heritage Month in May.

“New Canadians are thrilled to share their culture, traditions and food with Nova Scotias,” he said. “And Nova Scotians are eager to try new foods and learn more about their new neighbours.

Halitube has a mission to welcome young Asians to Nova Scotia and make them feel welcome and appreciated.

Earlier in 2021, Halitube collaborated with Good Robot Brewing Company to produce an Asian-inspired seltzer called Immortality. The craft brewer welcomed members of the young Asian community to their tap house to talk beer.

The Asians sampled some of the Good Robot beer and shared their opinions and tastes. Good Robot developed a peach-flavoured seltzer and put it into production, selling it at its tap house and in cans at the NSLC The Port.

“It was a hit with Asians and non-Asian,” Yang said. “It told the story of the Monkey King which Chinese students learn in school.”

Upcoming AAA episodes will include the MultiFest multicultural festival which will be held in Dartmouth in July.
